The 2025 AFLW All Australian Team has been unveiled this evening at the W Awards in Melbourne, with North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos’ Jasmine Garner named captain for the second consecutive year alongside Melbourne’s Kate Hore, who was recognised as vice captain.
This marks the third time Garner has been awarded the captaincy (2024, 2022 S7) and her inclusion in the 2025 team sees her equal Emma Kearney’s record of eight blazers across 10 seasons – the most in the AFLW competition.
The final All Australian Team of 21 features fifteen players who have earned their maiden All Australian selection, including eight who were selected in the All Australian squad of 42 for the first time this year.
Garner is also one of four players to achieve back-to-back honours alongside Kangaroos teammate Ash Riddell – who notched up a record-breaking 45 disposals in Round 8 – West Coast Eagles’ midfielder Ella Roberts and Fremantle ruck Mim Strom.
A quartet of Irish players have been selected, including Jennifer Dunne (Brisbane Lions), Niamh McLaughlin (Gold Coast SUNS), Aine McDonagh (Hawthorn) and Blaithin Bogue (North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos).
They join Aisling McCarthy (2024), Aishling Moloney (2024), Aileen Gilroy (2024), Orla O’Dwyer (2022 Season 6) and Niamh Kelly (2023) as the nine Irish players to have been selected in the All Australian team throughout the competition’s history.
Having finished first and second on the ladder after the NAB AFLW Home and Away Season, the Kangaroos and Melbourne have the most players named in the team with four and three, respectively. The Brisbane Lions, Carlton, Fremantle and Port Adelaide followed with two each.
Twelve clubs are represented in the 2025 All Australian Team: North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos (4), Melbourne (3), Brisbane Lions (2), Carlton (2), Fremantle (2), Port Adelaide (2), Geelong (1), Gold Coast SUNS (1), GWS GIANTS (1), Hawthorn (1), St Kilda (1) and West Coast Eagles (1).
AFLW All Australian panel: Andrew Dillon (Chair), Gemma Bastiani (AFL Media and ABC), Jason Bennett (Seven Network), Laura Kane (AFL Executive General Manager Football Operations), Katie Loynes (Former player GWS/Carlton), Kate McCarthy (Former player Bris/St Kilda/Haw and Channel Seven), Erin Phillips (Former Adel/PA player and Hall of Famer), Eliza Reilly (CODE Sports), Michael Whiting (AFL Media) and Megan Waters (Fox Footy).
