The much-loved father of 90 Day Fiancé star Elizabeth Castravet has died aged 64.
Castravet announced the death of fan-favourite Chuck Potthast in an Instagram post, saying it has left the family “completely shattered.”
“My sweet, loving, and caring dad went to heaven. We’re trying to figure out how to navigate our lives and move forward without him,” she wrote.

Potthast was a regular fixture on the show, which chronicled his daughter’s engagement to now-husband Andrei Castravet.
90 Day Fiancé follows four individuals, each granted 90-day visas to move in with their new fiancés for the first time.
After the 90-day period is up, each pair is faced with the decision of whether or not to officially tie the knot.
Potthast had previously referenced his health struggles on 90 Day Fiancé follow-up series 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, after it was revealed Elizabeth was estranged from her sister, Becky.

He told Elizabeth “the Lord didn’t save my life to see my family fractured like this.”
Becky, who had also featured on the TLC reality show, shared her own heartbreaking tribute to the pair’s late father on Instagram.
The star expressed her immense grief over the loss of Potthast, saying her world had become “distorted into a place I don’t understand.”
“My father Chuck went home to be with The Lord. The pain is still more than I can bare so this is all I can write,” she finished.
Potthast announced in 2022 that he was cancer-free, following major surgery in 2017.

But his health sadly declined again in 2024, when the reality star revealed he’d developed hernias related to several other cancer-related operations.
The family was then dealt another blow, with news that Potthast had been diagnosed with glioblastoma – an invasive form of brain cancer.
The reality star was a memorable reoccurring presence on the show, often seen attempting to keep the peace between his warring children.

Elizabeth’s then-fiancé Andrei faced intense scrutiny from her family due to past visa violations, with Potthast in particular expressing doubt about Andrei’s intentions.
However, the pair went on to wed in 2017 – and have since welcomed daughter Eleanor in 2019, and son Winston in 2022.
