This could be the ultimate addition to any rally or hot hatch fan’s collectionThe News
It’s impossible to list WRC icons without mentioning Lancia; the legendary Italian marque that toppled the mighty Audi Quattro in 1983 with the rear-drive 037. But as impressive as that feat was, neither the 037 nor the preceding Stratos can hold a candle to the Delta Integrale; a rally weapon that, at its peak, could go from 0-100km/h in two seconds… on gravel.

Pristine 1990 Lancia Delta HF Integrale listed for sale on carsales
Just 30,700km showing on the odometer
‘Best in Show’ at Sydney Italian Classic Car Concourse
The Finer Details
Group A regulations of the time dictated competition cars had to have a road-going equivalent available to the public that one or the other was homologated from.
The Delta Integrale was Lancia’s attempt at Audi’s fool-proof recipe of all-wheel drive grip and turbocharged performance and, spoiler alert, both the road and competition versions were truly formidable.
Stunning to look at, immensely capable and dripping with technology, the Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v is widely regarded as one of the ultimate rally icons of any era and one of the most collectable performance vehicles on the market.
Built in limited numbers back in the day, the Delta Integrale was never a common vehicle Down Under, let alone one in as good condition as this 1990 example listed on carsales for a cool $99,990.
Why so dear? It’s covered just 30,700km since new and is in immaculate condition – so good, it recently won ‘Best in Show’ at the prestigious Sydney Italian Classic Car Concourse.
Over its 35-year life, it’s changed hands three times, having originally been purchased and delivered in Italy before being imported into the UK and later making its way to Australia with all its original manuals, books, wallets, documentation and a ‘Certificato Di Origine’ from Lancia Classiche.
The specs? A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine drives all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, the former outputting 147kW/310Nm and the latter helping launch from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds and push on to a top speed of 220km/h.
The Road Ahead
There are four Delta HF Integrales currently listed on carsales, all in fantastic condition, but none quite have the purity and majesty of this particular example.
We have of course featured a 1990 example on From the Classifieds before, but that vehicle had covered twice as many kilometres and been upgraded – admittedly very tastefully – with a new exhaust system, adjustable coil-overs and a high-capacity fuel pump… this one’s stock as a rock.
“The Lancia Delta Integrale is a rally legend. From 1987 to 1992 the company, the car and its drivers virtually owned the World Rally Championship podium,” the seller said.
“46 victories overall, six consecutive constructors’ championship wins and drivers’ championship titles for Juha Kankkunen and Miki Biasion.
“Fastidiously stored and maintained from new this perfect example is period correct … [and] is the one to own.”
