A record field has capped off the 2025 Australian Sign & Graphics Association (ASGA) Sign & Print Golf Series, with 86 golfers and 96 attendees turning out to Heidelberg Golf Club in Melbourne for the Victorian Sign & Print Golf Day.

The event, sponsored by Graphic Art Mart, gave sign, print and graphics businesses a relaxed way to mix networking with friendly competition ahead of the end of year rush.

Heidelberg debut draws strong industry support

This was ASGA’s first Victorian Golf Day at Heidelberg, with cool but fine conditions providing ideal scoring weather over 18 holes.

Teams representing suppliers and industry businesses competed for prizes including longest drive, nearest to the pin and the hotly contested Survivor Ball, before gathering in the clubrooms for an industry lunch and presentations.

First place on the day went to Team 3M – Mat, Dean, Samie and Aaron – edging out several close contenders at the top of the leaderboard, with all top three teams carding an eagle.

New ‘Punchy’ series trophy launched

The Melbourne event also hosted the presentation of ASGA’s new series trophy, the Punchy – a perpetual award for the best-performing team across the national Golf Day series in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne.

Named after industry legend and former ASGA member and events manager Michael Punch, the trophy recognises both performance and long-term support for association initiatives.

“The Punchy recognises the things that Michael Punch embodies – the spirit of participation, camaraderie and support for the industry, as much as it recognises achievement,” said Damian Nielsen, member and events manager for ASGA.

“It was great to be able to present the inaugural Punchy to Graphic Art Mart, who have not only supported our Golf Day Series as sponsors this year, but have entered teams in each of the ASGA Golf Days around the country, and achieved some great results.”

Course colour, goats and networking

Nielsen said Heidelberg proved an ideal choice for the Victorian finale – a picturesque and challenging course, complete with a resident flock of goats, and clubrooms well suited to post-round networking.

“Our Golf Day Series is a great chance for business owners, professionals and suppliers to make new connections, renew old friendships, and enjoy a day away from the office, and Melbourne this year delivered in spades, with a fantastic turnout, a great game and plenty of opportunity to network,” he said.

“It was a great way to finish up the Series.”

National series backed by industry sponsors

The 2025 ASGA Sign & Print Golf Series has been supported by a line-up of industry suppliers including Spicers, Graphic Art Mart, Bentleigh Group, Mulford, ORAFOL, Signarama, SMIB and Bounce LED/LetterTech, with additional support at different legs of the series from companies such as Peak Install and HVG Graphics Media.

The Victorian event followed earlier Golf Days in Western Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland, which likewise combined Ambrose-format golf with relaxed industry networking.
