An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder after a man was shot multiple times near a police station in Western Sydney.

Police said a 28-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to his neck, chest and leg on Carinya Street in Blacktown about 11:50am on Friday.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Police stopped a black Mazda ute seen leaving the scene after a short pursuit of “about five minutes”.

Two men, aged 25 and 18, were arrested on the adjoining Kildare Road and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

The victim and the two people arrested are known to police.

“At this stage, we don’t believe there is anyone else we’re looking for,” Superintendent Brendan Gorman said.

He said a car found flipped on its own roof in the area was a “secondary vehicle” and not the ute involved in the police pursuit.

The 25-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries where he remains under police guard.

The 18-year-old was charged with a number of offences, including murder.

He was refused bail and will appear before Bail Division Court 6 on Saturday.
