Former AFL key forward Brandon Ryan will join the Maribyrnong Park Football Club for the 2026 season following his delisting by the Brisbane Lions in October.
Ryan was drafted as a mature-age prospect in the 2023 mid-season draft by Hawthorn following his success at VFL level with the Northern Bullants, where he kicked 28 goals in 15 games for the now-defunct club.
Ryan crossed over to Queensland from Hawthorn at the end of 2023 in a trade with Jack Gunston, and played one AFL match for the Lions after three games with the Hawks.
Ryan was instrumental in his sole career win, kicking three goals against Collingwood in Round 21, 2023, to guide Hawthorn to a famous 32-point victory over the eventual premiers.
Ryan returns to Maribyrnong Park following a three-season hiatus from the club, having played for the Lions in the EDFL in 2022 before his call-up to the VFL in 2023.
“We’re ecstatic to announce that the towering key forward and elite goal kicker, Brandon Ryan, is returning to Maribyrnong Park Football Club for the 2026 season,” the club statement read.
“Standing tall at 200cm, Brandon has spent the last two seasons with the Brisbane Lions, primarily in the VFL. He also had a stint at Hawthorn, mid-season drafted the year before, and played with the Northern Bullants in the VFL.
“Get ready for an electrifying season as Brandon brings his top-tier skills back to the Park.”
