You almost have to admire the garish pastels splattered across the original artwork for Neil Young’s Tonight’s the Night for its new 50th Anniversary Edition. It’s a perverse choice, subverting the album’s reputation as a massive, mournful bummer.
That’s not the only alteration on the 50th Anniversary Edition of Tonight’s the Night. Young casually swaps the thick sludge of “Lookout Joe” for a previously unreleased lighter version, one where the band sounds wobbly but not as woozy as Neil.
