Hollywood legend Danny DeVito are among the millions of NFL fans in disbelief after New York Giants kicker Younghoe Koo produced one of the biggest blunders ever seen.

With the struggling Giants trailing New England 17-7 in the second quarter, Koo lined up a 46-year-old field goal that would have cut the margin to one possession.

But it all unravelled in bizarre fashion.

Koo somehow managed to kick the turf and make no contact with the ball.

Holder Jamie Gillan was left holding the ball and tried to salvage the play before he was quickly swarmed on by multiple Patriots players.

It resulted in a turnover on downs in the middle of the ground.

Fans and commentators were savage in their assessment of the strange moment.

Legendary actor Danny DeVito, who was commentating the match alongside Peyton and Eli Manning on Manningcast, couldn’t believe it.

“I’ve never seen that (before), I’ve never seen that … what the hell was that?” he said.

Social media was unforgiving.

“Younghoe Koo just did the unthinkable,” one commentator said.

“Giants kicker Younghoe Koo with one of the most embarrassing plays in NFL history,” another said.

“He literally missed the ball while attempting to kick the field goal. We will never see anything like this again. Oh my goodness,” another said.

“Gotta give Younghoe Koo credit because I’ve never seen this before,” another added.

“If I’m Younghoe Koo I think I go ahead and just unplug from life, change the name, move to Canada, become a maple syrup salesman. Only way to recover from that is to completely cut ties with the world. No other realistic option,” another said.

The Patriots quickly responded with another touchdown before adding two more fields before half-time to open up a commanding 30-7 lead.

Koo didn’t have another attempt in the match with the Giants pulling off a successful two-point conversation after their touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots ran out comfortable 33-15 winners to maintain their standing at the top of the AFC East.

Koo’s blunder could see him lose his spot on the team.

Kickers are notoriously let go after one or two poor performances.

Koo had spent most of the season on the practice squad, but was elevated to starting duties due to an injury to regular kicker Graham Gano four week ago.

The veteran was perfect in his previous four field goal attempts, while had missed just one extra point.

Koo, who was born in South Korea, spent the previous six seasons at the Atlanta Falcons before joining the Giants.
