The new USA women’s 15s Head Coach, Jack Hanratty, will be moving to the Chula Vista area, and that’s an interesting adjustment to how things are done with the Eagles.
But it makes sense. The Women’s 7s program still provides players to the 15s program, and vice versa (witness Erica Coulibaly). The teams share some support staff, and the Elite Training Center is the perfect place to bring players together.
In an interview from Cape Town, South Africa, where her 7s team is preparing for the next SVNS tournament, USA Women’s 7s Head Coach Emilie Bydwell confirmed that there will be close work between her and Hanratty.
“The plan is to have the programs be as close as possible, and really leverage, the resources that the programs have to support each other, and a big part of that’s going to be these young players,” said Bydwell, adding that the 18-year-olds in the 7s program now will be 26 at the 2033 Rugby World Cup in the United States and potentially a central part of that USA 15s team.
