Prince Harry leaves Meghan Markle stunned with a sweet comment about her mum, Doria Ragland, in the festive episode of her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The 44-year-old is celebrating the release of the Christmas-themed episode today, with the show following the same format as the first two series.
In one part of the new episode, Meghan tries to mimic her mother’s Christmas Eve gumbo, a soul food recipe rooted in Doria’s family history. Revealing that it is a recipe that her mum makes every Christmas, Meghan told Top Chef star Tom Colicchio: “It’s a once-a-year thing that she does, so we’re going to make some gumbo”.
During filming, Meghan and Tom are interrupted by Harry, who greets his wife with a sweet kiss.
As he smells the gumbo, Harry says: “You must have known I was coming. Gumbo is one of my favourites — especially her mum’s. But before the fish goes in.”
Trying to see if the spicier version made on the show matches up to Doria’s, Harry says: “I can feel it puncturing through the top of my head!” – before admitting that he prefers her mum’s recipe.
Telling Meghan, Harry said: “I’m not so sure it’s as good as your mum’s, but it’s certainly close”.
Stunned by Harry’s honesty, Meghan said: “What?! Oh my gosh. Well, my mom will love you for that. You know what? What a good thing to say for your mother-in-law.”
Sources have previously discussed Harry’s sweet bond with his mother-in-law.
They noted that Harry “adores” her, finds her presence “refreshing,” and “loves being mothered”.
She is also known to share an adorable bond with her grandchildren, Prince Archie, six and Princess Lilibet, four.
