In Kyiv, police detained a young man who during a conflict inflicted serious bodily harm on a bystander on Khreshchatyk.
According to the city police, the information is confirmed during the investigation of the incident on the city’s central street.
The victim was found during a patrol. The man lay unconscious on the asphalt.
The authorities provided the man with first aid, called an ambulance and an investigative-operational group.
Doctors diagnosed a severe traumatic brain injury, a brain contusion, and a fracture of the temporal bone in the 30-year-old man.
Circumstances of the case and consequences
It turned out that a local MMA fighter was involved in the conflict. During the scuffle between him and the victim, a confrontation arose, after which the athlete struck the opponent in the face, causing him to lose consciousness.
The suspect was detained at the scene; he was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional grievous bodily harm. The assailant faces up to eight years in prison.
The police also reported other cases of aggression in the capital, including a knife incident in the Darnytskyi district.
The investigation is ongoing; law enforcement agencies are working to establish the circumstances of the incident.
