India’s Davis Cup 2026 qualifiers tie against the Netherlands will be held on the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) courts in Bengaluru on February 7-8, the All India Tennis Association (AITA) announced on Friday.

The Billie Jean King Cup play-offs, co-hosted by India last month, were also held in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru enjoys a rich Davis Cup legacy, having hosted several tennis ties over the decades. The city has been the venue for India’s encounters against Australia in 1970, Sweden in 1985, Indonesia in 2013, Serbia in 2014 and Uzbekistan in 2017.

The Indian tennis team, ranked No. 33 in the Davis Cup, has reached the finals three times (1966, 1974 and 1987).

The Indian team secured its place in the 2026 qualifiers with a convincing 3-1 victory over Switzerland in September, marking its first win over a European team since 1993.

Led by Sumit Nagal and Dhakshineswar Suresh, the performance also marked India’s strongest result since the competition format changed in 2019.

In the upcoming tie, India will face the Netherlands, currently ranked No. 4 in the Davis Cup and the runners-up last year.

As the 2024 finalists, the Netherlands earned direct entry into the 2026 qualifiers.

India and the Netherlands are among 27 teams in the qualifiers, with the 13 winners, along with Spain, progressing to September’s second round.

Spain are the top seeds in the 2026 qualifiers draw and receive a bye to the second round. The losers will be relegated to World Group I.

The teams progressing past both stages of the qualifiers will join hosts Italy for the 2026 Davis Cup Final 8 to be played in November next year.
