The royals have been known to use secret signals in public.
Prince William was previously caught calling a royal protection officer to get Kate to move along while chatting to fans.
The royals spend a lot of their time in the public eye, so hardly a surprise that they have some subtle signals when they’re on-camera. Like, apparently Queen Camilla tugs on King Charles’ jacket when she wants to leave.
Cut to Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were recently filmed during a tour of a special German exhibit from the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle. In footage from the visit, William was seen giving Kate a subtle back rub—a sweet moment that is now being read into as something potentially more.
Hello! Magazine notes that William is likely rubbing Kate’s back as a way to tell her to hurry up her conversation. As they put it, “When it’s time to keep things moving, he’s got the perfect move to hurry his wife along.”
Meanwhile, comments on this video range from “I feel like that’s the secret move from every guy who wants out of a conversation,” to “Subtle, quietly signaling, that we need to spend time with everybody equally,” to “I love their secret codes.”
FYI, this isn’t the first time Kate’s been caught up in a conversation and William’s stepped in. Last Christmas, Kate got distracted during a conversation with fans on the annual royal walk, and Hello! reported that William hopped on the phone with a protection officer when he realized his wife was left behind. The officer was then seen talking to William while Kate walked towards him (after she joked “I think I’ve lost my family”). Watch below!
