The Sky commentators, particularly Martin Brundle, are full of praise for Oscar Piastri’s first-lap stunner on his own teammate, Lando Norris.
Not only was it perfectly clean, it was perfectly executed.
Remember, Piastri, unlike Norris and race leader Max Verstappen, is on an entirely different tyre strategy – he’s started on the hard rubber.

That actually makes his overtake all the more impressive.
But was it a ploy all along?
McLaren have just asked Piastri to speed up so Norris doesn’t get stuck in his dirty air and fall into the clutches of Charles Leclerc in fourth. Remember: If Norris finishes fourth or worse, and Verstappen wins the race, Verstappen wins the crown.
