Zendaya’s bridal era is about to unfold both on and off the silver screen. While we never dared endeavoured to imagine the actress with anyone but her betrothed, Tom Holland, the announcement of her new film, The Drama, has us unexpectedly ‘shipping her with Robert Pattinson – purely for fictional purposes, of course.

A24, the indie film company that’s directive appears to be making audience’s dreams come true, announced the new film via their Instagram.

“THE DRAMA. Formal invitation to follow,” the post read.

With nothing but a save the date (date excluded) to go by so far, here’s what we know as we await our formal invites.

What Is The Drama About?

Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, the film is slated as a comedy-drama-romance, a dram-rom-com if you will. According to IMDB, the logline reads: “A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.”

A follow-up post from A24, which showed a mock engagement announcement from the film including a black and white photo of RPatz and Zendaya donning a sparkling diamond, gave a little extra insight.

The newspaper clipping from the Boston Globe (which may have actually appeared in the paper as a marketing stunt) reads: “Mr and Mrs Harwood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, announce the engagement of their daughter, Emma Hardwood to Charlie Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Thompson of London, England. Mr Hardwood, a decorated military veteran is proud to share this joyous news.

It goes on: “Miss Hardwood is a 2013 graduate of Portside High School and a 2017 honors graduate of Boston University where she earned her B.A. degree in English. She is currently employed at Mission Books.

“The future groom, Mr Thompson, was a 2004 graduate of Eaton College and went on to earn his ph.D. in Art History from Tufts University. He serves as the Director of the Cambridge Art Museum.”

When Will The Drama Be Released?

Eagle-eyed fans (its us) who paid particularly close attention to the faux-engagement notice, may have noticed it finished with a wedding date: April 3, 2026.

Is this the release date of The Drama? Yes, so you can officially save the date.
