Shedeur Sanders has burst onto the scene since taking over the Cleveland Browns‘ starting quarterback job a few weeks ago and now has some hardware to back it up.

On Thursday, the former Colorado Buffaloes star and fifth-round draft pick was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Week after a breakout performance against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.

Despite being a fifth-round pick, Sanders became the first rookie quarterback this season to receive the honor, despite not starting a game until Nov. 16.

It should be noted that the award is a fan vote, and Sanders has no shortage of fans, so his winning the award shouldn’t really come as a big surprise.

With Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski naming Sanders the starter for the rest of the season, he has a chance to have the best rookie season of all the rookie quarterbacks.

Sanders will go up against the Chicago Bears on the road this Sunday in what is expected to be a cold and windy day at Soldier Field.
