Following on from last years event, The Game Awards 2025 wasted no time in getting to the good stuff. From mysterious statues erected in the desert to cheeky and errant tweets, there were a lot of games being shown at Geoff Keighley’s annual wrap-up.
Plenty was announced, but a huge shoutout to all of the incredible games that were nominated too. Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades II, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Death Stranding 2 and, of course, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which garnered the most nominations that any game ever has in The Game Awards history.

ALL OF THE GAME AWARDS 2025 ANNOUNCEMENTS
A NEW TRAILER FOR RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM FINALLY REVEALED LEON AND HE’S READY TO ROUNDHOUSE
The new trailer introduces Leon, who looks to have more action heavy areas when compared to Grace. The game is still on track for a released at the end of February 2026.
REMEDY JUMPED ON STAGE TO ANNOUNCE THEIR NEXT GAME AND ITS A SEQUEL TO CONTROL
It’s called Control Resonant and looks to have a whole bunch of changes from the last Control, including taking things out of the Bureau. You play as Jesse’s brother this time, and he looks to be searching for Jesse. It’s out in 2026.
THE NEW TOMB RAIDER GAME WAS FINALLY ANNOUNCED
The game is called Tomb Raider Catalyst and will take Lara across the globe in another adventure. It’s not quite clear whether this will be in the current Survivor timeline or something entirely new. It’s out in 2027 for PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
A REMAKE OF THE FIRST TOMB RAIDER WAS ALSO ANNOUNCED
The game is called Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and it’s out in 2026. The game is a “retelling” of the original game, and is being made by Flying Wild Hog (who previously made the Shadow Warrior games).
THE BURNOUT DEVS (KIND OF) ARE WORKING ON A STAR WARS PODRACER GAME
The trailer didn’t show much gameplay, at least not in the opening moments as I type this, but it does look pretty solid. It’s called Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
THE PRE-SHOW OPENED WITH A LOOK AT A GAME WHERE YOU HERD SHEEP
As you’d expect, you play as a dog who is shepherding sheep through what I can only assume is a post-apocalyptic world. It’s out on PS5 and PC in 2027.
THE SOULSLIKE GENRE ISN’T DYING ANYTIME SOON WITH THIS ANNOUNCEMENT
It’s called Decrepit and it’s looking very….ominous. Platforms weren’t announced but you can wishlist it on Steam and get ready for a playtest right now.
AUDIOMECH GIVES POWER TO MUSIC IN A COOL NEW WAY
The game has you channelling your music into different weapons in what I can only assume is a hectic action game.
CAPCOM KICKED OFF THEIR NIGHT WITH ANOTHER PRAGMATA TRAILER
You control a robot astronaut person and a child robot thing to hack enemies and defeat them with many a weapon. It’s super unique looking and it’s out in April.
BRADLEY THE BADGER IS THE BLOODBORNE FOLLOW-UP YOU WANTED (KIND OF) [NOT REALLY]
Bringing back 3D platformers in a big way, Bradley The Badger looks to take Bradley to all kinds of locales, including a cheekily named BadgerBorne level. It’s made by one of the directors who worked on the Mario + Rabbids games and even stars Evan Peters. Wow.
SOME EX CAPCOM PEEPS HAVE REVEALED THEIR NEW GAME AND IT’S A BANGER
It’s a psychedelic action game that is super intriguing, made by people who previously worked at Capcom on Devil May Cry, Resident Evil and Dragon’s Dogma. It has been revealed for PS5 and PC so far and it’s called STUPID NEVER DIES.
A BRAND NEW STAR WARS GAME WAS REVEALED AND IT’S FROM A VETERAN STAR WARS DEV TOO
It’s directed by Casey Hudson, who directed the Mass Effect games and some of the Knights of the Old Republic games. It’s a single-player action RPG.
LARIAN REVEALED THEIR NEXT GAME AND IT’S A RETURN TO THEIR ROOTS
The trailer didn’t show any distinct gameplay, but does show off a great amount to help build the world that this new game will take place in. It’s called DIVINITY and it’ll be even bigger and deeper than Baldur’s Gate III.
KEIGHLEY GOT JJ ABRAMS ON STAGE TO SHOW OFF A GAME HE HELPED WORK ON
The game is described as a combat sandbox in a world that’s written and designed by JJ Abrams amongst many others. There is a playtest coming soon and it’s a multiplayer game, so your mileage may vary. It’s called 4 LOOP and it’s out on PS5 and PC at some point.
COVEN OF THE CHICKEN FOOT SOUNDS AS INTERESTING AS YOU THINK
The game is a super stylised single-player adventure that has you playing as Gert to build a bond with a creature. The team has worked with Naughty Dog on game previously, so some good talent here.
THE AMNESIA AND SOMA DEVS REVEALED THEIR NEW GAME
Ewan reckons a Skarsgard is voicing somebody in this one, I’m not so sure (edit: he was right). There were also lots of rats and NPCs, which I’m not sure about either. It’s called Ontos and it’s out in 2026 for all platforms (except Switch, sorry)
WE GOT ANOTHER TRAILER FOR EXODUS BUT IT’S FURTHER AWAY THAN I THOUGHT
The game is looking super Mass Effect-y and will be hitting consoles in early 2027.
WE’RE GETTING ANOTHER DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS GAME BUT HOPEFULLY THIS ONE IS GOOD
Honestly nothing can be as bad as that last Dark Alliance game, so I’m on board. The trailer is largely CG but Tricia Helfer is involved and it’s out in 2027. It’s called WARLOCK and it’s a third person, single player adventure game.
THE YAKUZA CREATIVES ARE DOING THEIR OWN TAKE ON THE YAKUZA GAMES
It’s called Gang of Dragon and it’s bound to scratch the itch of those looking for more Like A Dragon goodness.
THE ENTIRETY OF THE STREET FIGHTER FILM CAST TURNED UP ON STAGE TO GIVE US OUR FIRST LOOK AT THE FILM
It looks dumb as fuck but I am here for it.
THE NEW LEGO BATMAN TRAILER SHOWED OFF SOME MORE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS
The game looks fun and pays strong tribute to the franchises’ legacy with a whole bunch of playable characters – it’s releasing on May 29th 2026.
THE NEXT DIABLO IV EXPANSION CONTINUES THE STORY OF MEPHISTO
It’s called LORD OF HATRED and if you pre-order it today you can play as the new Paladin right now. Dynamic.
FOREST 3 LOOKS TO TAKE THINGS IN AN INTERESTING NEW DIRECTION
While I’m not completely sure if this is true or not, this looks to be a new game that takes the concept of The Forest and Sons of the Forest into space.
LENNY KRAVITZ WAS REVEALED TO BE PLAYING A BAD GUY IN THE NEW BOND GAME
The character’s name is Bawma, and he looks to be a self described “pirate king”. The game is still on track for release in March 2026.
ORBITALS IS A NEW TWO PLAYER CO-OP GAME EXCLUSIVE TO SWITCH 2
The game is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 and described as a 3D co-op adventure with a cel-shaded 80s anime style look.
THE NEW LORD OF THE FALLEN TRAILER LOOKS PRETTY JUICY
The game looks to be a step up from the first Lords of the Fallen in every way. It’s still on track for a release in 2026.
THE NEW SAROS TRAILER SNEAKILY PUSHED THE GAME BACK A MONTH
The new trailer shows off some of the other characters that Rahul Kohli’s will interact with in Saros, but also pushed the game back around a month to April. It’s a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
THE ASCENT DEVELOPERS NEW GAME LOOKS TO BE SUPER CYBERPUNKY AGAIN BUT THAT’S OK
The game is a brand new title from the team who brought us The Ascent. It’s looking just as cyberpunky as The Ascent did, but hopefully does enough differently to stand out. It’s an open-world FPS RPG, so we’re off to the right start.
DAVID HARBOUR JUMPED UP ON STAGE TO REVEAL HE IS IN THE NEW WARHAMMER GAME
Perhaps this is misleading – it’s a Total War game from Creative Assembly set in the world of Warhammer 40,000. And David Harbour is in it. Stream West End Girl by Lily Allen on Spotify if you haven’t already. xoxo
BANDAI NAMCO ANNOUNCED A NEW ACE COMBAT GAME FINALLY
It’s out in 2026 and its called ACE COMBAT 8 which is a cool title for an eighth game in a series.
THE LATEST PHANTOM BLADE ZERO TRAILER LOOKS HECTIC AS FUCK
While it’s easy to think this is a soulslike, this one is apparently more akin to Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry. It’s a long time coming and you’ll have to wait even longer as it’s due out on 9th September 2026.
CAPCOM JUMPED BACK ON STAGE TO REVEAL A NEW MEGA MAN IS IN THE WORKS
The game returns to the classic 2D style of the many games that have come before it. It’s called Mega Man: Dual Override and it’s out in 2027.
HIGHGUARD CLOSED THE SHOW AND IS A NEW SHOOTER FROM SOME EX-APEX LEGENDS DEVS
It looks very fantasy tinged and while it’s not for me it at least looks to be doing something differently. It’s out next month, which is nice.
