The Dáil has heard there is extraordinary public anger over the withdrawal of blister packs being issued by pharmacies to vulnerable patients.

Pharmacists have criticised the moves saying it will result in a significant increase in monthly expenses for those people.

Minister Patrick O’Donovan said medical card holders have their expenses capped at 80 euro a month.

But Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy says the withdrawal of the medicine organising service for those vulnerable patients needs to be reversed:
