UFC Vegas 112 has lost one of its most high-stakes fights.

A strawweight bout between top contenders Amanda Lemos (15-5-1) and Gillian Robertson (16-8) has been removed from Saturday’s lineup at UFC APEX with Lemos withdrawing due to illness. The UFC later announced it was a “medical issue” for Lemos.

Robertson was first to reveal the news via a post on Instagram Stories.

The nature of Lemos’ illness is not known.

This is a major disappointment for both fighters, who could have vaulted to the front of the 115-pound contender line with a win. Lemos is coming off of a loss to Tatiana Suarez and has alternated wins and losses in her past six fights, but that stretch includes a decision victory over current champion Mackenzie Dern from February 2024. Had Lemos earned a title shot, it would have been her second crack at UFC gold after losing to Zhang Weili at UFC 292.

Robertson has won five of six fights since making a permanent drop down from 125 pounds, including four straight victories. In her most recent outing this past May, Robertson defeated Marina Rodriguez via second-round knockout. Finishes are nothing new for Robertson, who owns the record for the most submission finishes by a woman in UFC history, as well as the most wins inside the distance in the women’s flyweight division.

UFC Vegas 112 is headlined by a men’s flyweight contender bout between Brandon Royval and Manel Kape. The card now proceeds with 12 scheduled bouts.
