Opposition housing spokesman Andrew Bragg has called for the “death of NIMBYism”, labelling it a cancer, and has signalled that a Coalition government would use federal funding as a carrot and stick to force states to allow more homes in existing suburbs.

In a landmark speech outlining the Coalition’s philosophy on housing, Bragg also repudiates former prime minister John Howard’s view that he had never met a person angry about their house price going up, and distances the party from Peter Dutton’s focus on building new housing estates.
