TNT’s The Librarians: The Next Chapter continued the original Librarians series in a fun new way by combining elements of the original series with fresh takes on the lore, and season 2 looks to be doing the same with the release of a new trailer for the series.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter filmed the first two seasons back-to-back, which is likely why a trailer has been made available so quickly, while there is still no premiere date for the second season. This particular trailer spotlights the guest stars who will appear in The Next Chapter season 2.
While Christian Kane as Jacob Stone will likely not surprise fans since he also appeared in the first season, another familiar face from the original Librarians series also appears at the end of the trailer. So do some new faces to the franchise. Watch the trailer below:
One of the biggest guest stars for the series is Dominic Monaghan of Lord of the Rings and LOST fame. Monaghan appears as the character with the most lines in the trailer and looks to play a large role in the upcoming season.
What The Guest Stars Mean For The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 2
The Librarians Offers An Exciting Lineup
Chances are that the trailer doesn’t give away every guest star that appears in The Librarians: The Next Chapter season 2, but it certainly offers an exciting lineup for the season.
Every guest star who appears in The Librarians: The Next Chapter season 2 trailer:
Dominic Monaghan
Josh Gates
Jeremy Swift
Flula Borg
Christian Kane
Lindy Booth
While Dominic Monaghan appears to be playing a villain of some kind, given his slightly sinister smile, the blade pulled on him, and his insistence that the Librarians will need his help, it will be interesting to see how much of season 2 he will appear in. This trailer makes Monaghan look like a villain with a longer story arc.

EXCLUSIVE: The Librarians: The Next Chapter showrunner Dean Devlin explains how the show connects to the original series and its misadventures.
Josh Gates is not strictly an actor. Instead, he’s an archaeologist who has spent 10 years working on the series Expedition Unknown, which gives him an interesting background to play here.
Both Jeremy Swift and Flula Borg are known for their appearances in comedies. Swift is best known for his work in Ted Lasso, while Borg is known for his work in the Pitch Perfect franchise and his recent appearances in The Rookie.
Christian Kane and Lindy Booth are familiar faces of the Librarians franchise. Both stars were Librarian trainees in the original series.
This particular lineup of guest stars indicates that the new series is looking to build on the world already created in the original show even more. It also could be leaning into the comedy inherent in the misadventures of the main characters as they tackle magical mysteries.
Our Take On The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 2 Trailer
The Trailer Saves The Best For Last
Lindy Booth is the final guest star spotlighted in the trailer. She has no lines, and her brief appearance does not hint at what exactly she is up to in the show, but the trailer truly saves the most interesting guest star for last.
There have been a lot of questions about whether The Librarians: The Next Chapter would elect to bring in more characters from the original series, other than Christian Kane’s Jacob Stone. Stone is known for his work with creators Dean Devlin and John Rogers, starring in the shows Almost Paradise and Leverage, as well as Leverage: Redemption. Kane appearing again was almost a given.

EXCLUSIVE: The Librarians: The Next Chapter star Jessica Green has opened up on the exciting new side to her character Charlie in season 2.
Lindy Booth appearing as Cassandra Cillian, however, is very exciting. In the original series, she was the character who became most tied to magic. She learned to wield it and was able to use it on the missions the group undertook. Her character provides a massive counterpoint to The Librarians: The Next Chapter.
The Next Chapter paints magic as the enemy. The characters in this new series are trying to protect the world from magic instead of properly using it. That makes Cassandra appearing a great way to examine magic and potentially create new conflict for the team without being a villain.
The guest stars being utilized in The Librarians: The Next Chapter are a sure-fire way to drum up excitement for the upcoming season.
