SUPERCARS and its three homologation teams have lauded the completion of the latest Windshear wind tunnel expedition and agree that aero parity has been reached for season 2026.

A total of 30 people from Supercars itself plus Team 18 (Chevrolet), Triple Eight (Ford) and Walkinshaw Andretti United (Toyota) were involved in the 10-day process which has now wrapped up.

“We’ve got parity, and we have got three HTs that are very happy with the results,” said Supercars chief motorsport officer Tim Edwards.

“You could almost say it’s a minor miracle because we set the bar so much higher than when we came here last time.

“We focused on downforce and drag last time we were here; this time we added a whole sensitivity band to it as well and we actually managed to achieve that as well, so a fantastic result for the category.

“We now know we have got aerodynamic parity and to a much, much finer tolerance than we had when we were here last time. So first box ticked, next box is moving onto the engine.”

Engine parity efforts will initially be conducted at Cragsted Race Engines in Queensland before venturing to AVL in Austria mid-2026.

But for now, it’s all about aero.

“We have parity,” declared WAU team principal Carl Faux, who admitted the results were beyond his expectations.

“I think it’s astonishing that three cars of such different shapes and sizes have been able to get within the bounds that Supercars have set out for us and in the parity box.

“I’m actually a little bit overwhelmed by it to be honest.”

Triple Eight team manager Mark Dutton said: “This is where it starts and you can work together here because everyone has a common goal.

“The common goal is having, let’s say it, parity. That’s the dirty word that we don’t want to be a dirty word. We want to put it behind us and then do our racing on the racetrack, that’s where we can go hammer and tong.

“But in these four walls, everyone worked together brilliantly.”

Added Adrian Burgess of Team 18: “I think it has been a really incorrigible, collaborative approach the last 10 days. It has been quite nice to be part of the process when you see the technology here, the level of detail, and the precision of what you’re measuring.

“To be able to walk away with three cars and all the extra sensitivity areas that we’ve measured and paritised, it’s a testament to the collaborative of all the engineer, all the mechanics and the tremendous support from the guys at Windshear.

“Now the proof will be in the pudding.”
