Are you an e-bike rider living in regional Victoria? Whether you’re cruising the state’s wonderful rail trails or tackling hilly terrain with electric ease, researchers want to hear from you.

A new research project led by La Trobe University is exploring the experiences of e-bike users in regional and rural areas – and your insights could help shape safer, healthier and more sustainable transport options for your community.

Why this matters

We all know that e-bikes are great for our health, our wallets and the planet. But despite the benefits, safety concerns and other barriers continue to hold people back – especially in regional areas where cycling infrastructure is limited.

E-bikes are changing the game. With electric assistance, riders can travel further, overcome environmental challenges, and enjoy active transport in new ways. But we need to know more about how e-bike users experience safety, motivation and confidence on the road.

What’s involved?

La Trobe’s research team are inviting adults (18 years and over) who currently ride – or have previously ridden – an e-bike in regional Victoria to take part in a short, anonymous online survey. It takes 10 minutes and covers:

your riding habits and motivations
your confidence and safety perceptions
your preferences for cycling infrastructure
your ideas for making e-bike riding safer and more accessible.

You will have the chance to enter a prize draw for a $100 gift card at the end of the survey.

Your voice matters

By sharing your experience, you’ll help inform better transport planning, road safety initiatives and community programs that support e-bike use in regional areas. Together, we can make e-bike riding a safe, convenient and enjoyable option for more Victorians.
