Hello, hello! And thank you for opening this final Wheel Talk Newsletter for the 2025 season. It’s been one heck of a year. All the transfers added an extra layer to the already fiery racing; veteran riders and new names alike took incredible victories, and there’s so much to look forward to in 2026.

This week: my five favourite underrated wins, some new looks for 2026, and last-minute transfer announcements.

First things first: New kits already?!?!

Normally, it feels like we only get to see team kits in January, but a few teams have already unveiled their new threads for the upcoming season. One of the biggest changes to the peloton (so far) is SD Worx-Protime.

Lidl-Trek’s is pretty much the same, with more blue detailing on the front and some added logos.

Of course, Canyon-SRAM zondacrypto and EF Education-Oatly remain the most anticipated kits coming, especially with EF Education-Oatly no longer riding Rapha.

Transfers update

I thought I was done with these transfer updates, but some teams are still making last-minute additions. St Michel-Preference Home-Auber93 has made a few late-breaking signings, including Heidi Franz and Caroline Wreszin. EF Education-Oatly announced Caoimhe O’Brien. Fenix-Premier Tech finally announced a list of extensions or new signings as well.

Now that we are well into December, it’s safe to say there will not be any more transfers announced…

Racing continues…

At the Tour Down Under in 32 days! We’re getting really close to the new season now! It will creep up on us before we know it.

Wheel Talk podcast

For the final interview of the year, I had the chance to talk to David Spindler, neuroscientist and Cognitive Performance Strategist. He has worked with some of the top riders in men’s and women’s cycling as well as a host of other sports. We talked about some of the most common mental struggles for professional athletes and how David helps his riders maintain happy lives while excelling at their craft.
