SWISS RIG has released srRAW 1.2, an updated version of its RAW digital cinema camera application for iPhone. The software represents a departure from standard iOS video applications by implementing a custom capture engine rather than Apple’s standard video processing pipeline.
We first reported on SWISS RIG and their attempt to add RAW cinema recording to the Apple iPhone here.
Company background
SWISS RIG was founded in 2024 and focuses on developing software and hardware tools for filmmakers and content creators. The company positions srRAW as addressing limitations they identified in existing iOS camera applications, which all utilize Apple’s standard capture engine and processing pipeline.
The srRAW 1.2 application targets various production types, including independent films, documentaries, music videos, and commercial work, as well as serving as a backup camera option for productions using traditional cinema cameras.

Now, the company is announcing a second generation of their srRAW Cinema Camera for iPhone. The application bypasses Apple’s built-in image processing to provide unprocessed capture capabilities. srRAW 1.2 natively encodes CinemaDNG files directly on the device, maintaining 14-bit dynamic range without noise reduction, AI processing, or exposure manipulation algorithms that are typically applied by standard camera apps.
The custom capture engine produces files compatible with DaVinci Resolve and other professional post-production software that supports the CinemaDNG open format. This approach allows colorists to work with iPhone footage using the same workflows applied to footage from dedicated cinema cameras

srRAW 1.2 supports resolutions up to 3K and works with iPhone 15 and 16 Pro and Pro Max models, and is now available on the App Store as a one-time lifetime subscription for €39.99, or as a subscription following a seven-day free trial (€19.99/yr).
