Seven men are assisting NSW Police with inquiries after authorities received information that a “violent act was possibly being planned”.
Officers from the Tactical Operations Unit conducted an operation on George Street in the south-west Sydney suburb of Liverpool late on Thursday afternoon.
Footage from the scene showed the handcuffed men face down on the ground, while later they were seen sitting on the floor facing a fence as heavily armed police and riot squad officers stood behind them.
“As investigations continue, seven men are assisting police with their inquiries,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“At this point in time, police have not identified any connection to the current police investigation of the Bondi terror attack.”

According to police, two cars were intercepted as part of the investigation.
