Liam Lawson has admitted he finds it “tough” not to get hung up on emotions when enduring a rough patch of form.
Lawson endured a torrid start ot the season inside the Red Bull seat and found himself demoted back to Racing Bulls after just two rounds.
He then took time to find his form at the sister team en route to a handful of point-scoring finishes, including a career-best fifth in Azerbaijan.
A frantic end to the season saw Lawson score twice in four races, but he was forced to walk away with difficult results in Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi.
Lawson highlighted the challenge that comes with having to stay mentally strong through the tough period.
“With how many races we have, you just don’t have time to really dwell,” Lawson told media including RacingNews365.
“It’s important that you obviously reflect on each weekend and try to take the positives and try to learn from each weekend.
“To go through this many weekends and trying not to get stuck on something or caught up in emotion is very tough.
“So, as an example, [Qatar] – to have a very smooth weekend all the way up to the race and be in a great position, and then a very small mistake throws that all away, it’s extremely frustrating.”
Lawson has retained his seat for the 2026 campaign at Racing Bulls and will be joined at the team by rookie Arvid Lindblad.
