MEDIAPOLIS — MTC Technologies is providing an update on the progress of its government-funded broadband expansion project in Southern Des Moines County and Lee County, supported by funds from the State of Iowa and the federal government.
Mainline construction in Southern Des Moines County is now complete.
Crews are currently focused on finalizing service drops to individual homes in that area.
In Lee County, mainline construction is actively underway in and around the Wever area, with work continuing to expand West and South toward Denmark, West Point, and Fort Madison.
Construction crews can be seen working within utility easements along highways and rural roads, and residents may notice increased activity in these areas over the coming months.
If residents are unsure whether their address falls within this grant-funded build area, they are encouraged to contact MTC Technologies at (319) 394-3456.
Most eligible households should have already received direct communication, but we understand that some may have missed the outreach.
MTC Technologies is thanking residents “who have been patient and accommodating throughout the construction process. We also thank the county and city officials as well as local partners for their collaboration and support in making this expansion possible.”
This project aims to bring reliable, high-speed fiber internet to underserved rural areas, helping bridge the digital divide and strengthen local communities.
