Samsung has officially announced the Exynos 2600, built on a 2nm process. The chip is expected to power the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ in the coming months, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Interestingly, it lacks an integrated 5G modem, which makes it quite different from previous generations. However, we may now have a clearer idea of which modem will be paired with the Exynos 2600 chipset.
Exynos 2600 lacks an integrated modem, but we may know what it will pair with
According to reliable tipster Erencan Yılmaz, the Exynos 2600 will be paired with an external Samsung modem called the Shannon 5410. The modem could support 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and NTN connectivity. However, Samsung has not confirmed this yet. There were no references to the modem in the official materials shared during the Exynos 2600 announcement.
So, we expect the company to follow up with an announcement or a more detailed technical explanation regarding the Shannon 5410 modem. And since Yılmaz claims that the screenshot he shared comes from an official source, this modem is most likely the final one to be paired with the Exynos 2600.
The company might also explain why they decided to go with an external modem, and not an integrated modem. It could also be a thermal decision. Integrated modems add sustained heat under load, especially with 5G and NTN. An external modem gives Samsung more freedom in board layout and thermal dissipation. These are some of the speculations, obviously.
