Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry dominated the first half of play Saturday night from Lambeau Field, and the visiting Ravens lead the Packers 27-14.
Henry took over in the game’s first 30 minutes with 106 yards and three touchdown runs, two on Baltimore’s first two drives, on 21 carries. He now has 121 career rushing touchdowns, good for fourth-most in NFL history, and Henry is the only player in the past 35 seasons with 20 carries, 100-plus rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in a first half. Despite Green Bay committing two major mistakes, a turnover on downs on fourth-and-inches at its own 34 and an aborted snap-fumble for a turnover in its own territory, the Ravens only came away with a combined six points off the miscues — two field goals.Â
Packers fill-in quarterback Malik Willis stuffed the stat sheet as well in the first half, completing all eight of his throws for 133 yards and a touchdown, a 39-yard scoring strike to wide receiver Christian Watson on a seam route up the middle on his second throw of the game. Willis also chipped in 22 yards on the ground on a 22-yard read option keeper in which he waltzed into the end zone untouched to cut the Ravens’ lead to 20-14 with 1:24 left in the half. Willis is the first quarterback since Michael Vick in 2002 with a 100% completion percentage, 100 passing yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in a first half.Â
Ravens fill-in quarterback Tyler Huntley used his legs to help get the Ravens in position for their final touchdown of the half, scrambling for 25 of his 46 yards early to get Baltimore’s offense going late. Henry finished the drive with another 3-yard rushing touchdown to put Baltimore up 27-14. Huntley finished the half with 83 yards on 12 of 15 passing.
