Sebastian Cossa made 26 saves Saturday for his fourth shutout of the season, and the Grand Rapids Griffins equaled a franchise record with their 15th consecutive victory, defeating the Milwaukee Admirals 3-0 0 at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
The Griffins improved to 26-1-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) for 53 points, the best record through 28 games in AHL history. Their winning streak is the sixth longest in league history.
Cossa, appearing in his 100th game, improved to 15-1-0 with a 1.57 goals-against average and .940 save percentage. He ranks first in the AHL in wins and GAA and second in save percentage.
The Griffins host the Admirals on Wednesday (6 p.m.) when they’ll try to establish a new club record for consecutive victories.
Erik Gustafsson (second goal) and Sheldon Dries (his 10th) scored power-play goals in the second period. Austin Watson capped the scoring with an empty-net goal in the final minute of regulation.
Dan Watson recorded his 100th win as head coach, tying Danton Cole (172 games) for the second-fastest to reach the mark.
