The NBA announced a two-game suspension for New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado and a one-game suspension for Phoenix Suns centre Mark Williams after their fight on Saturday night.

Alvarado approached Williams after a blown whistle and proceeded to instigate a fight in which Alvarado punched Williams on the left side of his jaw. 

The Suns ended up winning the game 123-114.

Alvarado had been averaging 8.3 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game this season. As for Williams, he’d been averaging 13.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. 

The two teams won’t face each other again until March 6, 2026.Â
