Key Stats:
For the third straight game, Amir Lindsey led the Great Danes with 18 points, shooting 7-of-17 (41.2%) from the field, 2-of-6 (33.3%) from three-point range, and 2-of-2 at the free-throw line.
Okechukwu Okeke was perfect from the field, going 6-of-6 with five dunks, two off alley-oops, while leading the team with seven rebounds (four offensive, three defensive).
Jaden Kempson and Lindsey shared the team lead with four assists apiece.
Okeke added to his America East leading total in blocks, recording his 26th of the season, while Isaac Abidde also registered a block.
As a team, UAlbany shot 27-of-62 (43.5%) from the field, 6-of-17 (35.3%) from three-point range, and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the free-throw line.
South Carolina finished 33-of-55 (60.0%) from the field, 14-of-30 (46.7%) from beyond the arc, and 16-of-17 (94.1%) at the free-throw line.
How it Happened:
The Great Danes and Gamecocks traded baskets early, with South Carolina taking an 8–6 lead in the first four minutes as Yaya Keita scored four of UAlbany’s first six points.
South Carolina then went on a 14–0 run over a three-minute stretch to build a 22–6 advantage.
UAlbany responded with a 19–11 run, sparked by nine points from Amir Lindsey and two emphatic dunks from Okechukwu Okeke, cutting the deficit to 33–25 with 5:58 remaining in the half.
The Gamecocks closed the first half on a 15–8 run, with Lindsey adding four more points to give him 13 in the opening half, as USC took a 48–33 lead into the break.
To start the second half, the teams battled evenly, with UAlbany outscoring South Carolina 8–6 to make it a 54–41 game.
A 21–9 run by USC extended the lead to 75–50 with 10 minutes remaining.
Over the next five minutes, Jaden Kempson scored all seven of the Great Danes’ points, making it an 88–57 contest.
In the final five minutes, five different Great Danes scored, but the late push was not enough as South Carolina secured a 96–67 victory.
