Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys are heading for an ugly breakup.

On Friday morning, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that Parsons’ relationship with the Cowboys has deteriorated to the point where a trade request isn’t out of the question. Fast forward a few hours later, and the All-Pro pass rusher announced that he wants out of Dallas.

“Yes I wanted to be here,” Parsons wrote. “I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America’s team once again. The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately I no longer want to be here.

“I no longer want to be held to close door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me.”

Parsons then provided some insight on his negotiations with the Cowboys.

“Up until today the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about a contract. Not one demand has been made by my agent about money years or anything else. Still I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all the narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.”

Unsurprisingly, the NFL world had a lot to say about the latest twist in this saga between Parsons and the Cowboys. Most fans are blaming Jerry Jones for this trade request.

“Jerry Jones really messed around and pushed Micah Parsons out of Dallas — Their undisputed best player!!! Can’t make this up,” one fan said.

“No Cowboys fan should be upset with Micah on this decision. We don’t blame him one bit. Dallas will lack severe credibility as an organization until Jerry Jones no longer has control or power,” a second fan wrote.

“Does Jerry Jones put his ego aside and give Micah the money now ??! Probably not smh,” another fan commented.

“Micah should bail. If he ever wants a shot at a SB ring. Has to get away from Jerry and Dak. Maybe take less money and latch on to a more balanced and talented team. Greed kills professional sports teams,” a social media user wrote.

“Micah’s deal should’ve been done last offseason. High chance Jerry pays up but if I was him I’d hold out and force a trade elsewhere,” an NFL fan said.

Parsons has racked up 52.5 sacks since joining the Cowboys in 2021.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it could take at least two first-round picks and a few mid-round selections to land Parsons. That’s if the Cowboys are willing to deal him.

We’ll see who blinks first between Parsons and the Cowboys.
