12:30 CET – Switzerland are off to a flying start in their United Cup tie with Italy after Belinda Bencic produced a mightily impressive performance to see off Jasmine Paolini 6-4, 6-3.

11:47 CET – Felix Auger-Aliassime has beaten China’s Zhizhen Zhang in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, to give Canada an unassailable 2-0 lead in their United Cup tie.

Elsewhere, Learner Tien is through in Brisbane after a hard-fought 7-6(4), 6-3 triumph over Camilo Ugo Carabelli.

09:56 CET – Canada have taken a 1-0 lead in their United Cup tie against China, with Victoria Mboko coming from a set down to defeat Lin Zhu 2-6, 6-2, 6-0.

09:19 CET – Frances Tiafoe is the first man through at the Brisbane International after a routine 6-2, 6-2 win over Aleksandar Vukic, while Marie Bouzkova has seen off Jaqueline Cristian in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

There’s been plenty of overnight action down under, with Alexander Zverev and Naomi Osaka securing wins over Tallon Griekspoor and Katie Swan, respectively, at the United Cup.

Meanwhile, in Brisbane, former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin is through to the second round after a battling 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Elena Gabriela Ruse.

McCartney Kessler, Anastasia Potapova and Ajla Tomljanovic have also made winning starts at the WTA 500 event.
