This is a fascinating rumor for a few reasons. Bichette himself would be a good fit for the team, theoretically replacing one of Bryson Stott or Alec Bohm (probably Bohm). He’s a big bat the team seems to need another of, his being right handed a bigger boon to the lineup.
It would probably also signal that they are moving on from J. T. Realmuto and going with a cheaper option behind the plate. Is this a signal to his camp to get moving on a decision? Maybe, but it is interesting nonetheless.
