After 25 years of ground-breaking events and iconic design, Ian Jorgensen and A Low Hum unveils a long-awaited tribute to its vibrant legacy: a trio of visually stunning books that capture the spirit of the New Zealand underground scene.
Leading the release is a richly curated hardcover book that showcases artwork from hundreds of A Low Hum shows over the last quarter-century. This visual archive offers a nostalgic journey through the evolution of independent music, gig posters, and design culture.
Complementing this retrospective are two additional titles:
– We Made That: A celebration of the ‘renegade art’ born at Camp A Low Hum, this book chronicles the creative chaos of camp culture. It features attendee-made posters for unofficial performances, quirky notes taped around the venue – from invitations to Snap tournaments and Magic games, to lost-and-found messages, comics, poetry, and even DIY radio shows. It also includes attendee-designed DVD covers for the legendary Camp 2007 Movie.
– A curated selection of 50 standout posters presented as an immersive colouring experience. Equal parts collectible and creative outlet, this book invites fans to reinterpret iconic designs in their own style.
All three titles are complete and ready to go to print. A release tour is booked for October 2025, set to bring the project to life with events that celebrate the artistry and community behind A Low Hum.
Support the project by pre-ordering the books via Kickstarter now. Full details can also be found at alowhum.com/art. Every order helps ensure the release tour kicks off with boxes full of beautiful books.
