PGA Tour fans are getting an extra-long break with this week’s Sentry at Kapalua cancelled. But the tour’s biggest star, Tiger Woods, is still on a golf course this week. Following his son, Charlie, at a junior tournament, that is.

And, apparently, there was a pretty bizarre sequence during the second round of the Junior Orange Bowl in Florida.
According to the Palm Beach Post, Charlie hit an errant drive under a tree on the 11th at the Biltmore Golf Course. When the 16-year-old tried to hit a recovery shot, his golf ball popped up off a root and nearly hit him in the face.
The Post reports that Charlie was forced to “drop his club and cover his face.” But good news! The young man was fine. And he then somehow managed to put his next shot onto the green and make a long putt for par.
Which prompted the ultimate compliment from Pops: “Hell of a shot,” Tiger was heard telling Charlie as the two joked about the wild par save. We just wish it had all been caught on camera. Instead, you’ll have to settle for these photos of Charlie—well, mostly Tiger—from the Palm Beach Post.

Charlie shot a 73 to go with his opening 72. The 13th-ranked junior golfer in the country was T-22 after two rounds at and event his dad won way (WAY) back in 1991.

Yeah, Tiger Woods is getting old. In fact, he turned 50 last week. And Australian Golf Digest had plenty of content to honour the occasion. Enjoy! Because, again, there’s not much golf to watch this week.
