SANDOWN 500 winner Scott Pye’s 2026 has got off to a rough start with an unusual injury.
The man who has re-signed to be Will Brown’s Triple Eight co-driver for another two years yesterday posted a video to Instagram in the wake of undergoing surgery.
“It turns out there wasn’t enough bone overlap, it was too displaced, so the bone was never going to heal in my toe,” explained Pye, who turns 36 today.
“It is as dumb as it sounds: I stubbed my toe playing nerf wars with my nephew…
“Anyway, crutches for a little while and hopefully I’ll be back at Sydney for the ride day.”
In the written component of the post, Pye noted “I’ve now broke all bar four toes”.
With Triple Eight joining the Blue Oval, The Bend 500 in September will mark Pye’s first Supercars race for Ford since his DJR Team Penske tenure came to a close at the end of 2016.
Five of Triple Eight’s six-strong enduro roster has been formalised. The Red Bull Ampol Mustangs will be piloted by Brown/Pye and Broc Feeney/Nick Percat, while Jackson Walls’ SCT co-driver has yet to be announced (but is expected to be Jack Perkins).
