We’ve just seen the Hall of Fame package for Magda Szubanski and there were endless words of praise for the comedy great.
From Richard E Grant to Rebel Wilson, dozens contributed to the montage, praising her talents and character.
Unable to attend the ceremony, Magda gave her acceptance speech via video.
Despite her recent cancer diagnosis, she insisted her induction was not a sympathy vote and was ultimately down to 40 years of hard work. “Lobbying, bribing, threatening, whatever it took, finally it has all paid off,” she joked.
Addressing the outpouring of love she’s received from the Australian public since her diagnosis, she broke down in tears.
Wrapping up her speech, she revealed her bald head and joked she had her “hair done specifically so it will match with my Gold Logie”. Unsurprisingly, she received a standing ovation.
