Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko sustained a lower-body injury in his team’s 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, head coach Adam Foote told reporters after the game.
Demko, 30, allowed three goals on six shots in the opening frame and Kevin Lankinen entered the net in the second period.
Foote added that Demko will be re-evaluated over the next few days.
The 6-foot-4 netminder has an 8-10-1 record this season with an .897 save percentage and 2.90 goals-against average.
He signed a three-year, $25.5 million extension with the Canucks this summer that will keep him with the team through the 2028-29 season.
Lankinen, 30, allowed two goals on 18 shots in relief of Demko.
The 6-foot-2 netminder has a 6-11-4 record this season with an.883 save percentage and 3.40 GAA.
Vancouver sits last in the Pacific Division with a 16-23-5 record and are 10 points behind the Utah Mammoth for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
