DENVER (KKTV) – Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from January 5 to January 11, according to the Denver Nuggets.

According to the team, Watson has become the 20th different Nugget in franchise history to be named Player of the Week and the third Nuggets player to win the award this season, joining Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokić.

The team said he averaged 24.5 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.8 blocks in 38.7 minutes while shooting 50.0% from the field, 70.0% from three and 66.7% from the free-throw line, helping Denver finish the week with a 3-1 record.

He ranked first in the West in three-point percentage, fifth in the West in total points and was one of three players in the West to shoot 50%from the field and above 60% from three during the week, they said.

“Watson started the week off with an OT win on the second night of a back-to-back in Philadelphia on 1/5 despite missing the entire starting lineup along with bench staples Jonas Valančiūnas and Tim Hardaway Jr. Watson recorded 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks in a season-high 44 minutes. He followed that performance up with his second 30-point game of his career to go with six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks in 37 minutes at Boston on 1/7, helping the Nuggets close out their longest road trip of the season with consecutive wins,” the Denver Nuggets said.

According to the team, Watson hit many career highs, including his averages of 13.2 points, 5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1 steal in 29.1 minutes while shooting 50.3% from the field, 41.3% from three and 73.0% from the free-throw line
