Actor and musician Ethan Zane Browne’s cause of death has been revealed.
The 52-year-old son of rockstar Jackson Browne died from the effects of fentanyl, meth, and lidocaine, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed.
His death on November 25 was ruled an accidental overdose, TMZ reported.

Jackson announced the death of his son in a statement.
“It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away,” the Running On Empty singer said.
We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment.”
Ethan was born on November 2, 1973 to Jackson and his partner, model Phyllis Major.

In 1974, at just six months old, he made his debut on the cover of Rolling Stone with his father.
Ethan’s mother died by suicide when he was two, and he was raised by Jackson.
Ethan became a model, DJ, musician and actor, appearing in projects such as the 1995 Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller film Hackers, the 2004 Kate Hudson movie Raising Helen, and the 2002 TV series Birds of Prey.
He modelled for designers such as Isaac Mizrahi, and was part of the musical duo Alain Zane. They released their debut album in 2022, titled Right Before Your Eyes.

Jackson often boasted about his son, including in a 2022 interview with Tru Rock Revival
“Ethan is a great father. He’s a great son, a great man,” he said.
“I love seeing him with his kids. When I see him in his movies, modelling, with his daughter, and being such a great dad, it makes me very proud.”
