For the first time since 2019, fans in England will get their fill of elite basketball action as the NBA returns to London for a regular-season showdown between the Orlando Magic and the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, 18 January.

After competing against each other in Berlin, Germany, on Thursday, 15 January, the teams will rematch for a second regular season in Europe.

Sitting in 10th in a deeply competitive Western Conference, Memphis (17-22) will be hoping that their transatlantic trip for back-to-back games buys them precious momentum as they look to improve on their standing as the halfway point of the regular season arrives.

Orlando, meanwhile, currently sixth in the East (22-18), will be leaning on the recent return of Germany’s Moritz Wagner after a year out due to injury as they look to hold onto a playoff spot with April approaching.

Fans of international basketball will have plenty of star power to enjoy in North Greenwich, in the Arena where the men’s basketball final at the London 2012 Games was held.

The Grizzlies’ Santi Aldama and Jock Landale played for Spain and Australia, respectively, at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, while the Orlando Magic was represented by German brothers Moritz and Franz Wagner.

More recently, Tristan da Silva appeared alongside Franz Wagner as part of the German side that claimed victory at EuroBasket 2025 to become just the fourth nation to hold both the world and European titles simultaneously.

Those intrigued by how Team USA intends to suit up for Los Angeles 2028 might keep a close eye on the Magic’s Paolo Banchero and Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr, who both represented the United States at FIBA World Cup 2023.

As the United States’ men’s basketball team heads into transition, having won its fifth consecutive gold in Paris, Banchero and Jackson Jr. are names that have been cited as being on the long list for the next cycle.
