The Thunder are 6-189 from 19.3 overs after being sent in by the Sixers in the Sydney Smash at The Sydney Cricket Ground after David Warner smashed his second century of BBL15.

Warner belted 11 fours and three towering sixes to bring up his second century of the season off just 61 balls and finished unbeaten on 110 from just 65 balls.

“That was an absolute masterclass,” Brad Haddin said on Fox Cricket.

Mitchell Starc fired in bowling to old teammate David Warner in his first BBL game in 11 years, but the batters had the advantage early.

Matthew Gilkes hit two fours in his run a ball 12 before he was caught by a brilliant diving catch from Moises Henriques to give Mitchell Starc his first BBL wicket in 11 years.

David Warner smashed eight fours and a six to bring up his 50 off just 25 balls.

Sam Konstas capped a miserable BBL campaign with a battling 6 off 11 balls, before skying one to Josh Philippe off Jack Edwards.

Sam Billings hit one four in his 14 off 13 balls, before he was out to a diving catch from Steve Smith in the deep to give Ben Manenti his first scalp.

Warner became just the fourth player to score 14,000 T20 runs after he passed 82 off just 49 balls.

Nic Maddinson smashed two fours and two sixes in a cameo of 26 from 16 balls, before he was caught by Smith off Sam Curran.

Chris Green came and went for a golden duck caught and bowled by Curran after skying one.

Test stars are on deck as Moises Henriques and the Sydney Sixers host David Warner and the Sydney Thunder in a blockbuster clash at The Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Sixers have won the toss and will bowl first.

Mitchell Starc will play his first BBL game since BBL04 in 2015 and will be joined by Steve Smith, while Daniel Hughes returns from illness and Todd Murphy and Jordan Silk drop out.

For the Thunder Ollie Davies and Blake Nikitaras come into the squad with Charlie Anderson, Cameron Bancroft (injured) and David Willey dropping out.

The fifth placed Sixers need to win to jump the Heat into fourth spot, while the last placed Thunder are playing for pride in their final game of the season.

The Sixers are coming off a rained out clash with the Hurricanes, while the Thunder beat the Renegades in a thriller.

Smith and Babar Azam will lead the charge with the bat for the Sixers, while Starc and Ben Dwarshuis will be key with ball in hand.

For the Thunder Warner and Matt Gilkes have been amongst the runs this season, while Wes Agar and Chris Green will lead the bowling attack.

It sets the scene for a mouth-watering latest instalment of the Sydney Smash as the Thunder look to upset their fierce rivals on their charge to the finals.
