Pool 2 of the Investec Champions Cup remains finely balanced as Bath Rugby hosts Edinburgh Rugby with qualification and seeding still undecided. No team in the pool has yet secured a playoff place, but Bath enters the final round with a narrow advantage at the top of the table, holding 11 points to Edinburgh’s 10.

With margins tight and multiple scenarios in play, this fixture carries direct consequences for both sides.

Bath’s European campaign has been defined by strong responses. After missing the Investec Champions Cup Round of 16 last season and going on to win the Challenge Cup, Bath opened this Champions Cup with a home win over Munster, stumbled away at Toulon and rebounded with a road victory at Castres in Round 3.

That win has put Bath in control of its own path: with a home victory at the Rec Ground, they secure a top-four seed in the knockout stage. Consistency at home has underpinned that position, and Bath now has an opportunity to convert momentum into certainty.

Edinburgh arrives with an outside chance to claim the top seed in Pool 2 but must do so on the road, where results have been harder to come by. The Scottish side went unbeaten at home in pool play but suffered a heavy 33–0 loss at Toulon in Round 2. Edinburgh did show resilience away from home in URC Round 9 with a win at Benetton before returning to European action.

This matchup also revisits recent knockout history, as Bath defeated Edinburgh 39–24 in the 2025 Challenge Cup semifinals. With only Bath, Edinburgh and Toulon still capable of winning the pool, Sunday’s result will ripple across the final standings.
