Boys Basketball Roundup: Anderson helps Chapel Hill race past Spring Hill

NEW CHAPEL HILL — KJ Anderson hit for 26 points in helping power Chapel Hill to a 62-44 victory over the Spring Hill Panthers on Friday in a District 16-4A basketball game.
The Bulldogs improved to 21-2 on the season and 4-1 in district. The Panthers dropped to 4-15 and 0-5.
Anderson hit a 3-pointer and had five steals.
Others contributing for CH were Isiah Mayfield (11 points), Maliek Brown (8), Marquise Collins II (4), Malik Gee (4), Ryder Steele (3), George Cameron (2), Ke’Rion Green (2) and Jeremy Harper (2).
Steele hit a trey.
Chapel Hill plays host to Kilgore on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. tipoff scheduled. Spring Hill visits Gilmer.
All Saints 63, Dallas Christian 39
Caz Franks filled the nets for 24 points to lead the All Saints Trojans defeated Dallas Christian 63-39 on Friday in a TAPPS 4A District 2 basketball game at Brookshire Gym.
The Trojans improved to 11-9 overall and the Chargers fell to 9-17 and 0-4.
Others scoring for All Saints were Sachit Basoor (12), Emerson Hadnot (9), Carsyn Ware (8), Peetey Erskin (6), Tate Scully (2) and Mason Patrick (2).
Rock Vaughn led Dallas Christian with 12 points and Ayden Smith added 11 points.
Franks, Basoor and Erskine each hit two 3-pointers.
All Saints visits McKinney Christian on Tuesday. Dallas Christian hosts McKinney Christian on Jan. 23.
Athens 51, Canton 46
ATHENS — The Athens Hornets scored a 51-46 win over the Canton Eagles on Friday in a District 15-4A basketball game.
Athens improved to 13-2 and 4-0 and Canton fell to 15-8 and 3-2.
Judson Dyke and Colton Bell each led Canton with 13 points.Â
Others scoring for the Eagles were Casen French (4), Tucker Brown (4), Dean Dekkers (4), Ethan Lewis (2), Bailey Holiman (2) and Brady Lewis (2).
Carthage 59, Pine Tree 54
LONGVIEW — The Carthage Bulldogs edged the Pine Tree Pirates 59-54 in District 16-4A action on Friday at the Pirate Center.
The Pirates fall to 4-1 in district play, but still share the top spot in the league standings with Chapel Hill and Kilgore. Carthage is 3-2.
Darron Pair finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Pirates in the loss. D’Ayden Ingram added eight points and 13 rebounds.
Pine Tree travels to Tyler on Tuesday to meet Cumberland Academy in a 7 p.m. contest. Carthage visits Henderson.
Marshall 58, Nacogdoches 50
NACOGDOCHES — Nacogdoches’ boys basketball team fell at home to Marshall Friday night in a 58-50 final.
The Dragons are now 17-10 overall and 4-4 in district play. The Mavericks are 14-11 overall and 4-4 against district opponents.
Jonas Hollins led the Dragons in scoring with 19 points. Lockett was next in line with 10 points while Cameron Brady scored one.
Nacogdoches will return to action Tuesday in Jacksonville. Marshall will host Tyler.
