Tottenham Hotspur could step up their long-standing interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton this month, journalist Dean Jones has suggested.
The north London side are looking to improve Thomas Frank’s squad with new signings in January and have already concluded a deal for Conor Gallagher’s arrival from Atletico Madrid.
With Brazilian left-back Souza expected to join next, Spurs show no signs of slowing down and could reportedly look to advance their interest in Wharton before the market shuts.
Wharton has been linked with several Premier League clubs in recent weeks, including Manchester United, who are also long-term admirers.
Tottenham to Step Up Adam Wharton Interest?
Jones, writing on X, revealed that Tottenham ‘have been planning to lead the chase’ for Wharton since last year and could look to step up their interest in the final two weeks of the winter window.
After joining Palace from Blackburn Rovers in February 2024, Wharton has emerged as ‘one of the best midfielders in the Premier League’ during his time at Selhurst Park.
The ‘incredible’ England international has been instrumental for Palace under manager Oliver Glasner, helping the Eagles lift the FA Cup and Community Shield last year.
The 21-year-old has made 19 league appearances for Palace this season, missing only two games, and has provided two assists in wins over Wolves and Fulham.
Tottenham Eyeing a New Forward
Amid their long-standing admiration for Wharton, Tottenham are believed to be eyeing a new forward this month to boost Frank’s depleted options in attack.
As journalist George Sessions revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast, the Lilywhites remain on the lookout for opportunities to add a new wide forward to the squad after missing out on Antoine Semenyo, who joined Manchester City.
Tottenham were reportedly looking to resume their interest in Man City ace Savinho before the Brazilian suffered an injury on New Year’s Day that has sidelined him for several weeks.
Club President Confirms Tottenham Deal
Santos president Marcelo Teixeira has confirmed Souza is joining Tottenham following a £13m agreement between the clubs.
The 19-year-old defender is expected to become Spurs’ second signing of the January window and will provide cover at left-back in Destiny Udogie’s absence.
