Shannen Doherty’s ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko, is seeking to block the court’s ruling for a substitution of a trustee in the actress’ trust.
Iswarienko filed legal docs with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, citing Doherty’s death and the couple’s 2024 divorce as the reason why the court “lacks jurisdiction” in the matter, per court documents obtained by Page Six.
According to the filing, Iswarienko argued that his and Doherty’s divorce should not have received an official judgement from the courts due to Doherty’s death on July 13, 2024 — which means, the court should also be unable to make a ruling on the substitution.

He also claims that the trustee of the Shannen Doherty family estate, Christopher Cortazzo, has not adequately shown that he has been granted the authority by the trust to introduce the motion to the court in the first place.
Cortazzo filed documents on Nov. 24 seeking to become the successor in interest to the “Charmed” star’s estate in order to push the judgement between her and Iswarienko.
In the filing, Cortazzo accused Iswarienko of not following through on the couple’s divorce agreement in which he agreed to list their $1.5 million home in Dripping Springs, Texas — which they shared until an unspecified date.

The estate also reportedly accused Doherty’s ex of failing to return Doherty’s property and withholding over $50,000 that he allegedly owes the estate.
Doherty and Iswarienko’s divorce deal was signed on July 13, just hours before the actress died at age 53 following a nine-year battle with breast cancer that had spread to her brain and bones.
On July 15, a judge officially declared the couple divorced.
A rep for Doherty’s estate did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Sources previously told Page Six that she fought until the end for her divorce from Iswarienko because she worried he would be able to take over her million-dollar estate. theshando/Instagram
As we previously reported, the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star fought until the end of her life to end her marriage with Iswarienko because she feared that the photographer — whom the actress claimed had cheated on her — would be eligible to take over her multimillion-dollar fortune, according to sources.
“We knew that it was really bad,” one friend of Doherty’s told Page Six at the time of her diagnosis.
“She fought so hard, and it’s so unfair … Shannon died before the divorce could be rubber-stamped in the courts. All we wanted was for Shannon to get her final wish — to die as a divorced woman.”
