Adam Schindler & Brian Netto (Don’t Move) are attached to direct Every House Is Haunted from producer Sam Raimi, Deadline reports.
Raimi has a financing deal with Starlight, which optioned Ian Rogers‘s 2012 collection Every House Is Haunted. The short story The House on Ashley Avenue is the basis for the film.
In it, an insurance investigator tries to debunk claims that a couple’s death was caused by a haunted house, but his doubts are challenged by a psychic and the mysterious occurrences he witnesses with his own eyes.
Raimi and Zainab Azizi are producing for Raimi Productions alongside Roy Lee (Weapons, IT) for Vertigo Entertainment. Vertigo’s Andrew Childs (The Long Walk) will executive produce.
The film was originally set up at Netflix with Jason Pagan & Andrew Deutschman (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension) penning the script, although it’s unclear if that’s still the case.
“Ian is a fantastic storyteller of horror,” said Raimi. “He has an ability to create a unique reading experience with great scares and memorable characters. I knew the moment I finished reading Every House Is Haunted that Ian was someone I wanted to work with.”
The Nun director Corin Hardy was originally announced as the director back in 2021 but has since moved on to other projects.
Schindler & Netto will next helm Nightwatching, an adaptation of Tracy Sierra’s psychological thriller novel starring Mila Kunis.
